In honor to celebrate and bring awareness to the role of law enforcement in communities, the Law Enforcement Ride & Run to Remember event will take place from Oct. 12-13 in Washington, D.C.

The event is designed to show support for the law enforcement officers who support communities every day. Net proceeds will benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).

Included in the event are 55- and 30-mile bike rides and a 5K run. Participants can register individually or on a team for one or both activities. There is also an option to register as a "virtual participant" to raise money without biking or running in the event.

Each participant is required to raise at least $72 in honor of the law enforcement officer lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Registered riders must be 16 years old and runners must be 12 years old by the date of the event to participate.

For a limited time, participants can register using the "HEROES" discount code to save $5 on registration fees.
