Savannah-Chatham (Ga.) Police Cpl. Clifford Perry Jr. celebrated a rare milestone this week when he marked 50 years of service with the agency, reports the Savannah Morning News.

Current and former community and police leaders joined Perry at the Savannah Civic Center on Tuesday to honor the financial crimes investigator, who reached his milestone on July 1.

Perry, who has been honored as the agency's officer of the year in 1970 and 2001, said he enjoys his job too much to retire. William Harvey, a former Savannah officer and POLICE contributor, praised the man he once worked alongside, calling him "one of the finest men I have ever known."
