The fiancee of an NYPD officer who committed suicide while on duty told the New York Post she called the officer moments before the fatal act to "tell Terrence he needs help."

After responding to a burglary call in Queens with his partner on Thursday, Officer Terrence Dean, 28, put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Seconds before, he had spoken with his fiancee Mary Stuart, 28.

Officer Dean had threatened to kill himself earlier in the day. He had wanted to be a firefighter rather than a cop, Stuart told the newspaper.
