The residents of a small Mexican town near the Texas border have a new police chief — 20-year-old college criminology major Marisol Valles García.

The town of Praxedis G. Guerrero located near Ciudad Juarez has become a battleground between the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels who are trying to gain control of its single highway that's a lucrative trafficking route of narcotics into Texas, according the the Associated Press.

Valles Garcias' only police experience is as a police secretary.
