Verizon Wireless is rolling out a 911 texting service that would allow its customers to send a 911 text message if they're unable to make a voice call. This enhanced SMS service is geared toward Verizon customers who are deaf or hard of hearing or who could be placed in additional danger by speaking.

NTSB Recommends Nationwide Ban on Driver Cellphone Use
The National Transportation Safety Board has recommended a nationwide ban on driver use of all portable electronic devices in a vehicle, including hands-free devices. Exceptions would be devices that assist the driver in getting to a destination and for use in emergency situations.
