Video: Sleeping Driver Causes Fla. Cop's Rollover Crash
A Jupiter (Fla.) Police officer was injured Sunday when a sleeping driver struck his patrol car, sending him into a tree and rollover crash. Officer Jason Starks was not seriously injured.

The Dangers of Distracted Driving
We have statutes in many states against distracted driving, including texting while driving, talking on a cell phone, and other technological multi-tasking. So given the prevalence of in-car computers in patrol cars and how they are often used by an officer who is driving, we have to ask if the rules governing distracted driving apply to police officers as well as the public.

NTSB Recommends Nationwide Ban on Driver Cellphone Use
The National Transportation Safety Board has recommended a nationwide ban on driver use of all portable electronic devices in a vehicle, including hands-free devices. Exceptions would be devices that assist the driver in getting to a destination and for use in emergency situations.

N.Y. Troopers Issue 816 Texting Tickets Over Holiday Weekend
New York State Police cracked down on texting drivers, issuing 816 tickets over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend during "Operation Hang-Up."
