Handgun Trigger-Pull Assessments for Recruits
The trigger-pull assessment can be an important teaching tool particularly in getting prepared for firearms training, helping new recruits improve their grip strength prior to them entering the program, planning for remedial training, and setting goals for the curriculum. You can discern many things by watching how an individual picks up and handles a weapon for the first time for example.

Springfield Armory XD(M) 3.8 Pistols
As you probably have already noticed, the XD(m) 3.8 and the XD(m) 3.8 Compact get their names from their 3.8 inch-barrel, as opposed to the four-inch barrel standard on the original XD Pistols. The Compact designation is assigned to the 3.8 Pistol, which has the short "Compact/Sub Compact" style grip.

Ruger SR40 Duty Pistol
Ruger's SR40 duty pistol may be the first semi-auto from the company that could catch on with law enforcement officers. Ruger introduced the first striker-fired polymer pistol, the SR9, in 2007. Because .40-caliber S&W is the leading duty ammo in law enforcement, the company introduced a pistol to compete in this realm. In his "Arsenal" review in the March issue of POLICE Magazine, Paul Scarlata called the SR40 a "a pleasingly accurate pistol."

Rhode Island Agency Converts to M&P40 Pistols
During testing and evaluation, the Providence PD reported that the M&P polymer pistols received high marks on officer evaluation forms for ergonomics, operating controls, and reliability. The M&P pistol was also noted for its ambidextrous controls and the ability to customize the grip size of the pistol to meet each officer's requirements.

SHOT Show 2011: Glock Adds Gen4 G21 In .45 ACP
Glock will release two more Gen4 pistols in 2011, including the G21 .45 ACP and G34 9mm pistol that will arrive in the summer. Glock will also release a new beaver-tail back strap to help larger-handed officers avoid slide bite.

SHOT Show 2011: Walther Brings PPQ Duty Pistol
The PPQ arrives in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers with 3.2-inch barrels. Representatives from Smith & Wesson (Walther's distributor) touted the pistol's "quick defense trigger," which provides an audible reset (clicking sound), 5.5-pound pull, and 0.1-inch reset.
