IN Man Gets 10 Years for Throwing Firebombs at Police During Portland Riots
The Multnomah County (OR) District Attorney's Office says that in the late summer of 2020, Malik Muhammed traveled to Portland. "His criminal activity spanned September and October of 2020 and included four separate criminal incidents," the DA says.

Portland Officers Saved Shooting Victim with Tourniquet
Both officers drew on their police bureau medical training. They carry Individual First Aid Kits. Officer Wyatt reached for the hemostatic gauze designed to stop the bleeding and packed it into the victim’s wound. Officer Raphael applied a tourniquet.

Multnomah County prosecutors announced Thursday the grand jury’s finding of a “not true bill” — a legal term stating an act was lawful — in the fatal Dec. 6 police shooting of Brandon L. Keck.

The agreement, which was released Tuesday, comes after more than a year of negotiations and is still pending final approval from each side. Suspect Assaulted OR Officers with Fireworks, Bomb Squad Finds Blasting Caps
Police found the man on a local bike path after getting several early-morning complaints about gunshots. When officers tried to talk to him, the man allegedly began shooting the fireworks toward them.

The state requires that all new officers go to the state Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, and the academies the officers are required to complete are held at certain times with limited enrollment.

OR Trooper Struck by Suspect, Critically Injured in Pursuit
A Life Flight helicopter was requested by responding officers at the scene, but due to adverse weather conditions, the helicopter was not immediately available. The trooper was taken by ground ambulance to Portland's Emanuel Hospital in critical condition

Portland Mayor Wants to Hire More Police, Buy Body Cameras
"Many Portlanders no longer feel safe in their city," Mayor Ted Wheeler said during a news conference Wednesday. "Business owners have closed up shop, for fear of doing business in high risk areas. Commuters fear for their safety, whether taking public transport or going by foot. Parents are scared to let their children play outside."

Survey: 86% of Portland Voters Want More Police
The survey showed 76% of Portland residents know the city’s problems are real and not exaggerated by the media. A full 60% of those who were once opposed to police are now beginning to support more police being hired, and 71% say they support hiring more police officers even though they are concerned about social justice and racism in the bureau.
