California Police Union Offers Concessions to City
Members of the CPOA agreed to set up a two-tiered retirement system for new hires, forgo furlough hours the city currently owes officers, give back accrued sick and vacation time for each officer, enact early retirements, and waive the right for officers to receive monetary compensation for extra time accrued.

California Candidate's Aide Slurs Challenger For Protecting LE Pensions
The comment came during a call which Brown placed to the Los Angeles Police Protective League's Scott Rote asking for the union's endorsement. In the recording Brown also asks Rote about the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, which on Thursday announced its endorsement of Whitman.

GPS in Police Vehicles: Officer Safety or Big Brother Watching?
Some agencies and unions have agreed that GPS results will not be used against officers unless a complaint has been made, but other agencies have purchased computer software that will monitor an officer's speed and print out a report. Alerts can also send out if the vehicle's speed exceeds a predetermined maximum.
