One Cliffside Park (N.J.) PD special police officer was killed and another injured on foot patrol when they were struck by an SUV this weekend. Officer Stephen Petruzzello died this morning.

Dashcam Video Clears New Jersey Officer of Wrongdoing During Traffic Stop
During the traffic stop, officers broke out the passenger side window of Cephas' car and pulled him physically from the vehicle. Cephas contacted local and national media and, because this was shortly after the shooting of Michael Brown, the media pounced on the story.

Video: New Jersey Troopers' Cruiser Sideswiped by Jeep at Traffic Stop
The close call was captured on dashcam video back on October 11 around 10:30 p.m. Two New Jersey state troopers from the Hamilton station pulled over a car for a minor traffic violation along I-95 in Upper Freehold Township. As the troopers stood on the passenger side, a speeding vehicle suddenly clipped the stopped car as well as the state police cruiser.
