Dallas Police are searching for a man who attempted to car-jack an off-duty officer, who drew her weapon on him. During a struggle, the officer was cut by the knife and fired through the door striking the suspect, who ran off with her weapon.

Officer Nicoletti and Winans struggled in the kitchen with Winans grabbing the officer's gun and firing a shot that grazed the officer's vest. Hearing his partner yell, "He's got my gun," Officer McCarthy headed to aid his partner and fatally shot Winans.

When asked to demonstrate weapon retention, most officers place both hands on their holstered handgun and move their hips violently from side to side. This is a good technique. Tampa OIS Suspect Grabbed Officer's Weapon
Officer William B. Cain called for backup and eventually pulled the car over, after running the plate and determining the driver had a suspended license. After the suspect was able to get a hand on the officer's gun, Officer Scott Savitt shot him twice fatally.

Stopping Gun Grabs
When asked to demonstrate weapon retention, most officers place both hands on their holstered handgun and move their hips violently from side to side. This technique is good. But before you are able to react in this manner, the suspect can bridge the open space between you, lower his shoulders, and extend his hands to touch your holstered firearm. Try using a technique that provides a faster reaction.

Oregon Chief Killed In Confrontation At Car Stereo Shop
Chief Painter, 55, had responded to the shop's call at about 11 a.m. that a man later identified as 21-year-old Daniel Armaugh had entered the bay and was acting suspiciously. Armaugh apparently wrestled the gun from Chief Painter and fatally shot the officer.

Detroit Officer Shoots Burglar During Scuffle In Beauty Store's Dark Basement
The officers responded to Amy's Wig & Beauty Supply in the 13500 block of West 6 Mile at about 5:30 this morning after getting a 911 call. While the officer was inside the basement, the suspect lunged at him and attempted to grab his gun.

Rookie Mississippi Officer Shot and Killed By Detainee
Officer Glen Agee was shot twice in the face after struggling with the detainee who he was transporting in the back of his patrol car to a detention facility. It is suspected Agee was shot with his own service weapon.
