LEO Mental Health Act Signed into Law by President Trump
The new law makes grants available to initiate peer mentoring pilot programs, directs the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services to develop resources for mental health providers based on the specific mental health challenges faced by law enforcement, and provides funding for studying the benefits of crisis hotlines and annual mental health checks for officers.

The National Park Service is no longer providing funding for a controversial project "honoring the legacy" of the Black Panther Party after outrage that the agency would spend taxpayer dollars to memorialize a group that murdered a park ranger in the 1970s.

Police Mental Health Bill Passes House Committee
H.R. 2228, the “Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act,” directs the U.S. Attorney General to identify existing mental health and wellness programs, especially those administered by the U.S. Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs, and then develop model policies which could be adopted by state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies.

Miami Officers Volunteer to Assist Police in Storm-Ravaged Key West
Even though their own homes were damaged by Hurricane Irma, a group of Miami police officers are volunteering to bring aid and support to first responders in heavily damaged areas of the lower Keys, including the city of Key West. Read More Here.

The Tulsa police union lodged an ethics complaint Wednesday against District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, alleging he “unfairly” charged Officer Betty Shelby without probable cause because he “rushed” to a decision before all evidence had been submitted to his office.
