2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit
Law enforcement agencies such as the Boise (Idaho) Police Department have opted for Chrysler's 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit as their new patrol car to replace the Crown Vic being phased out by Ford this year. Rather than introduce a new model, Chrysler opted to upgrade its existing Charger. For the 2011 model year, Chrysler added a Pentastar V-6 engine option and added electronic stability control to the suspension for better handling during higher-speed pursuits. Chevy Upgrades Powertrain on 2012 Impala Police
The new engine and six-speed automatic transmission produces 302 hp and is rated to achieve a fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 27 mpg highway — a 3 mpg improvement over previous Impala models. The 2012 Impala can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds, according to the automaker.

Portland Police Unveil Redesigned Patrol Cars
The new cars will be solid blue with white wrapped doors that display the words "Portland Police" and the slogan, "Sworn to protect. Dedicated to serve." A red rose appears between the words "protect" and "dedicated" on the vehicle.

Vintage Patrol: 1968 Dodge Coronet
Ted Saraf's strong memories of his rolling office as a young officer with the Pasadena (Calif.) Police Department led him to Texas in 2008 to find and restore the object of his affection—a 1968 Dodge Coronet. Saraf purchased the vehicle via eBay, and set out to lovingly restore it to how he remembered it during its service days in the late 1960s and '70s. Saraf brought the vehicle to the 2011 Police Fleet Expo to show attendees his finished work.

Drivers from the Los Angeles Sheriff's annual vehicle testing provided driving notes, which are concise observations that read like a Zagat restaurant review entry, as one element of their evaluation of the performance and safety features of the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice PPV, 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit, and 2012 Ford Police Interceptor sedan.

Law enforcement officers usually get to drive "sportier" cars for community relations activities, parades or other warm-weather events. The Bloomfield (Mich.) Police Department, because of a special relationship with General Motors, can call to duty a Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac CTS Sport, HRR, or Cadillac XLR-V. Mississippi Sheriff To Replace Crown Vics with Tahoes
The eight new SUVs are also better suited for the rugged, rural roads of the jurisdiction, according to Sheriff Jim Johnson. The Tahoes have a larger gas tank and get 15 MPG compared to the 12 MPG delivered by the Ford Crown Vic.
