Now, like most of the public, I had been led to believe that firefighters and cops hold each other in contempt. But I remember very vividly attending a firefighter's funeral. When we drove away from the service on our way to the cemetery, the streets were lined with firefighters saluting their brother in arms. And there were cops on those sidewalks, too.
