Calif. Gang Officers Targeted by Booby Trap
"It was an improvised device capable of firing a regular bullet, and it was attached in such a way so that when the gate was opened, it activated and fired. Fortunately it narrowly missed," said Hemet Police Lt. Duane Wisehart. "The gun was affixed to a fence and hard to see. It could have definitely killed someone. This is domestic terrorism."

Math Teacher Stops School Shooter at Colorado Middle School
Two students were wounded and hospitalized. Jefferson County authorities identified the alleged gunman as Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood, 32. He was held on two counts of attempted murder, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Gang Unit Confiscates Weapons
After noticing an upswing in gang activity in 2006, the Livermore (Calif.) Police Department's gang unit began more targeted efforts to keep the city's illegal gang activities under control. In this clip produced by the Contra Costa Times, officers confiscate a baseball bat painted with "XIII" for 13, which refers to the letter 'M' (13th in the alphabet) to pledge allegience to the Mexican Mafia.
