A Streetsboro, Ohio, Police K-9 was struck by a vehicle and killed late Tuesday afternoon.
The Streetsboro Police Department reports on Facebook that K-9 Kaya was working with his handler Officer Jason Hall when Hall let the dog out of his police vehicle to "stretch his legs." Kaya then reportedly "got too close" to state Route 303 and was struck by a passing vehicle.
Hall rushed Kaya to a local veterinary hospital and an emergency veterinary hospital, but the K-9 could not survive his injuries.
The Streetsboro PD said in its Facebook statement that an investigation is in progress, but “there is no evidence that the crash was anything other than a heartbreaking and horrific accident. The driver did return to the scene to speak with officers.”
