Ariz. Mall Reopens After Chaos From Mistakenly Released Fugitive

A fugitive who was mistakenly freed from jail reportedly shot at a task force that was tailing him at a Chandler, Ariz., shopping mall Wednesday, authorities said.

A Chandler, Ariz., shopping mall reopened shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, after it was secured following a gunfight between a man thought to be a fugitive and the task force following him, according to authories.

A fugitive who was mistakenly freed from jail may have shot at a task force that was tailing him near the Chandler Fashion Center.

A short time later, there were reported shots fired inside a Baja Fresh restaurant across the street from the mall, and police say they believe it involves the same suspect, whom the U.S. Marshals Office has identified as Daniel Perez.
