A Los Angeles Police officer has resigned, after an Internal Affairs investigation revealed he illegally tapped an agency records database for a gang member recently convicted of murder.
Officer Gabriel Morales, 25, was seeking information on two key witnesses who testified in the trial of 18-year-old Matthew Turner, who was found guilty in August of killing a man in a drive-by in Highland Park, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Morales had been dating the gang member's sister for several years.
