VIDEO: LAX Camera Captures Passengers Fleeing After Shooting
Shots were fired at Terminal 3 of the Los Angeles International Airport this morning. Contradicting earlier reports that the shooter was a TSA agent, authorities are now saying the shooter was a ticketed passenger and he is in critical condition, not killed, according to the LA Times. The gunman reportedly shot and killed a TSA agent, and at least seven people were hurt.
The shooter walked to the security checkpoint, pulled out a concealed assault rifle, and shot the TSA agent, reports CNN; the shooter then went through the checkpoint and a police officer shot the shooter.
Following the incident, police searched for additional suspects, but it is now believed there was only one shooter, according to Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon.
LAPD and airport police were on scene. A citywide tactical alert was scaled down to LAPD’s West Bureau only, according to LAPD on Twitter, KTLA reported.
The Federal Aviation Adminstration has grounded all flights at the airport and no vehicles are being allowed to enter.
