California Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Ramming Patrol Vehicle

Police said the suspect tried to get away but a second officer arrived with emergency lights to get him to stop. Instead of stopping, he accelerated and steered his truck into the officer's patrol vehicle, colliding head-on.

A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after the Grover Beach (California) Police Department said he intentionally rammed one of its police patrol vehicles.

Officers responded to a disturbance involving a vehicle Sunday night.

Upon arrival, officers found 62-year-old Steven Tomis driving a 1974 Ford pickup truck, which had collided with another vehicle, KMPH reports.

They said Tomis tried to get away but a second officer arrived with emergency lights to get Tomis to stop. Instead of stopping, Tomis accelerated and steered his truck into the officer's patrol vehicle, colliding head-on.
