A former Pickens (S.C.) Police officer who cited Clemson's football coach for speeding and then posted a blog about it for University of South Carolina fans said he was wrongly fired over the incident.

Corporal Michael McClatchy and his attorney spoke to the media on Thursday, reports WSPA.

The department fired Corporal McClatchy after he allegedly spent an hour and a half editing the blog post during a police shift. The officer had pulled over Clemson coach Dabo Swinney on Sept. 3 driving 63 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The two schools meet Nov. 24 for their annual football rivalry at the Clemson campus.
