About 50 fraternity brothers in South Texas face disciplinary action after they shot long guns during an off-campus outing and caused a late-night standoff with police, reports the Associated Press.
Police in Alton were called to a ranch after midnight Thursday after neighbors heard several shots. Officers then heard more gunshots, leading them to call for help.
The group didn't surrender when police shouted out instructions over a loudspeaker. So about 25 officers entered the ranch. Inside were about 50 members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The group surrendered two shotguns and a rifle, and no shots were fired at police. Four people admitted to firing the weapons and were cited for disorderly conduct.
