Vote to Disband Maine Police Department Postponed

A planned vote on the future—or lack thereof—of the police department in a small town in coastal Maine has been postponed.
According to NBC News, the town meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 11 in Gouldsboro will be rescheduled due to a procedural matters involving missing signatures on a document.
The Gouldsboro Police Department currently employs three officers with a budget of just over $200,000, and if the agency is disbanded and the town contracts police services with the Hancock County Sheriff's for 40 hours per week from the Department, it would cost $110,810. Sixty hours per week would hit $156,347, and 80 hours, $201,885.
The town has a population of about 1,700 people.
