Charleston, SC, Chief Announces He is Dying of Cancer

The Charleston, SC, police chief has announced that he is ending cancer treatment and entering hospice care for end of life.

Chief Luther Reynolds was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. In February 2022, he announced he would return to duty after losing a leg to cancer, WCSC reports.

Mayor John Tecklenburg named Reynolds as Charleston’s police chief in March 2018.
