Cleaning Up the LEOSA Mess
If the LEOSA improvements bills become law, retired officers will need to have an official ID from their agency and qualify with a state-certified firearms instructor who qualifies police in their states of residence. This could make it much easier for retired officers from say Illinois agencies to exercise LEOSA carry rights.

Smart Guns Are Not Ready for Duty
What the lab tried to communicate to the NYPD was that the technology wouldn’t have prevented the Edwards tragedy. You see, the radio system will pick up any friendly gun within 600 feet. That means that when the other officers pointed their weapons at Officer Edwards their guns would have only told them that a friendly gun was in the general area. Well, they already knew that. Reality-Based Training
The phrase “Reality-Based Training” conjures up myriad images for the average law enforcement officer. It could mean working out in expensive interactive shoot houses, performing under stressful conditions in realistic scenarios, or simply training with your uniform on. The fact is that all of these things, and much more, can be part of a good Reality-Based Training (RBT) program.

BlackHawk's Night Ops Xiphos Weapons Light
In January, I attended my 10th SHOT Show. Each year I always seem to leave the show with a couple of interesting items test and evaluate for personal or professional use. One of my favorite items from this year’s show was the Night Ops Weapons Light, a compact and versatile light designed to be mounted on the utility rail of a pistol, rifle, or shotgun.
