During his commute home on Christmas Day, Massachusetts State Police Trooper David Phan noticed cars swerving on Route 3 in Duxbury to avoid a golden retriever.

With the help of others who stopped, Phan slowed traffic and they were able to get the dog into his cruiser, MSP said on Facebook. The dog, named Willow, was wet but unharmed, MassLive.com reports.

Phan located Willow’s family, who had been searching for the dog. Willow was returned to her family in Pembroke on Christmas by Phan.
