Small Indiana Department Seeks to Double Number of Sworn Officers

A small town of just less than 4,000 citizens northeast of Indianapolis is seeking to double the number of sworn police officers in coming months.

A small town of just less than 4,000 citizens northeast of Indianapolis is seeking to double the number of sworn police officers in coming months.

According to CBS News, there are currently eight sworn officers working with the Fortville Police Department, but the chief of police hope to double that number.

The department handled about 7,800 calls for service in 2019. That number is up from 2018.
