Man Held on $1 Million Bond for Shooting Texas DPS Trooper

A man is being held on $1million bond on charges of three counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer after opening fire on a Texas DPS Trooper on Saturday night.

A man is being held on $1million bond on charges of three counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer after opening fire on a Texas DPS Trooper on Saturday night.

The trooper reportedly was approaching the scene of a vehicle collision when the subject—identified as 24-year-old Victor Alejandro Godinez—began shooting.

Godinez then fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief search.

According to NBC News, the trooper was transported to a nearby hospital where he reportedly underwent surgery.

He was listed in critical but stable condition early Sunday morning. His identity has not yet been released.
