N.H. Chief: 'We're Doing Less With Less'

Police Chief Jamie Sullivan said he is no longer advocating to hire any new staff in his 2013 proposed operating budget, but a discussion regarding the department's needs for more "boots on the street" will have to take place in the future.

Hampton (N.H.) Police Chief Jamie Sullivan said he is no longer advocating to hire any new staff in his 2013 proposed operating budget, but a discussion regarding the department's needs for more "boots on the street" will have to take place in the future.

The police chief presented next year's proposed $3.8 million operating budget for the Police Department Thursday to the Budget Committee. While he plans to make due next year with current staffing levels, Sullivan warned the committee that he will be pushing for additional officers in the next few years.

"We are doing less with less," Sullivan said. "We are not getting everything done that we should be getting done."
