A San Antonio Police officer likely saved the life of a burning man with his quick use of a fire extinguisher.

The officer saw flames while on patrol and found Richard Rodriguez, 22, at the west end of the Guadalupe Street bridge in flames at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday. Rodriguez later told investigators that several men doused him in gasoline and burned him, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

The motive for the attack is not clear at this time.
