On the witness stand, Chicago police Officer Sylshina London recalled how she had been terrified while driving to work in March 2010 when an occupant in another car threw a glass bottle, hitting her in the face, and several other individuals banged on her car and threatened to physically harm her.

"I was terrified because I didn't understand what this attack was about," she testified in a Far South Side branch court last September. "Like it just happened out of the blue. I didn't know what was going on."

But there was a problem with the testimony — it was a baldfaced lie, Cook County prosecutors alleged Wednesday in announcing a felony perjury charge against the former police officer.
