The reward has reached $50,000 for information leading to the capture of the man suspected of fatally shooting an Athens, Ga., police officer.
The FBI notified the Georgia Bureau of Investigations it had added another $40,000 to the pot, reports the Athens Banner-Herald. Investigators are looking for 33-year-old Jamie Hood, who is suspected of carjacking a Honda Prizm and opening fire on the two Athens-Clarke County Police officers who confronted him.
Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian was killed, and Senior Police Officer Tony Howard was wounded. Apparently, Hood shot Howard before he could exit the patrol car, and then ran. Christian pursued Hood, who then shot him through the window of the cruiser.
