Dallas Officers 'Ashamed' By Escort for Cop Killer

Deputy Chief Julian Bernal gave the order Friday to provide 10-12 motor units and a squad car to escort members of the funeral procession of David Brown, who shot and killed Lancaster PD's Officer Craig Shaw.

Dallas police officers say they are ashamed by a deputy chief's decision to give cop killer David Brown, who is also the chief's son, a police escort on Friday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Deputy Chief Julian Bernal gave the order Friday to provide 10-12 motor units and a squad car to escort members of the funeral procession of David Brown, who shot and killed Lancaster PD's Officer Craig Shaw. Escorts are usually reserved for dignitaries and officers who are killed in the line of duty.

Officers posted comments on Underground.com, a private message board for Dallas officers, and a message about a planned protest and a meeting at the Dallas Police Association headquarters to discuss the matter.
