Raytheon is developing a new server-based system that will help first responders communicate with each other during daily operations and emergencies, according to the company.
The server links 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) and P25 systems over the same network. It also offers interoperable communications to governments and public safety agencies by incorporating existing equipment instead of requiring a hardware overhaul, the company announced.
In a related announcement, Raytheon announced that it will provide Rock County, Wisc., with its first interoperable communications network. A new digital P25 radio system will be built that connects police, fire, EMS, transportation and municipal city workers across a county that spans more than 700 miles.
This news comes just weeks after Raytheon won a public safety LTE contract to build an LTE communications system in Denver and Adams County, Colo.
