The Louisville (Ky.) Metro Police Department's mounted unit have begun using mobile data terminals while performing patrol duties.
The MDTs usually rest on the officers' horses and allow them to provide direct links to emergency dispatch and the police department's records management system and will help officers run records checks directly from horseback, reports Chris Quay at the Courier-Journal.
The devices are Panasonic hand-held U-1 computers.
