Ocean Systems Adds Audio Capture To Omnivore

Ocean Systems has included a feature known as Active Audio Sync with version 2.0 of its Omnivore video capture system to help investigators collect and process low frame rate video that has associated audio.
With the update, video and audio will remain in sync and play back at the proper speed for a low frame or changing frame rate video, according to the company.
The "video optimization" feature samples the original video's frame rate and screen size and then adjusts the video-capture settings so the video is captured properly without dropping frames.
The 2.0 version includes a new .omva file format for audio captures. It also contains a new Virtual Keyboard and shortcut functions along with a new field kit viewer.
Additionally, Ocean Systems added export options and file auto naming options. Users will be able to export the video to low frame size distribution formats such as .wmv or compressed QuickTime files. The video can be saved and viewed in a standardized, uncompressed format such as QuickTime or AVI for future processing.
Both the Omnivore previewer and Capture Report in the device have been redesigned with updated buttons and features and the company made interface improvements.
Omnivore's specialized forensic video and image capture software runs directly from the drive without the need to install and unlock the software on a local computer, according to the company.
The Omnivore retails for $495. Volume discounts are available for multiple units.
