Dodgers Donate to LAPD On-Body Cameras

The Los Angeles Dodgers will donate $250,000 toward the $1 million needed to equip LAPD officers with on-body cameras, the major league baseball team announced Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will donate $250,000 toward the $1 million needed to equip LAPD officers with on-body cameras, the major league baseball team announced Tuesday.

The gift brings the amount raised by new Police Commission President Steve Soboroff to $600,000 for the camera systems, reports the Los Angeles Times . The agency has already begun testing TASER's Axon Flex on-body system.

Chief Charlie Beck and the Los Angeles Police Protective League have expressed their support for the cameras. Supporters have said audio and video of traffic stops, officer-involved shootings and other encounters will curb officer misconduct and clear officers of claims of wrongdoing.
