San Antonio, Texas, Police Chief William McManus told the City Council's Public Safety Committee Wednesday that the Police Department has completed its pilot program of so-called body-cams, or body cameras, but isn't ready yet to recommend implementation.
The department field-tested six types of cameras and officials are now debriefing officers who used them. But before the chief could recommend adding them permanently, there are several issues that have to be considered. McManus said the cost of storage for the massive amount of data that would be produced would likely be high and there are logistical issues as well.
The chief will be reporting back to the council in December with more details and recommendations.
