No. All facial recognition matches are considered possible and arrests should not be made based solely off of facial recognition software results. After a manual analysis has been performed to verify physical similarities between the probe and possible candidate, a secondary analysis and verification is recommended between 3-5 of your peers. Once the possible candidate has met physical characteristics, an immediate background check should be conducted to validate the subject selected is still the strongest possible match. However, it is very important to remember the onus still falls on the agency to establish probable cause for arrest by other investigatory means. Facial recognition should only be used as a lead generation tool.
