Video: Charlotte Chief Says No Need for Curfew as Guard and Troopers Bolster Police Resources
Putney said the city's resources have been tied up by two nights of rioting over the fatal police shooting of Keith Scott, but now with help from the State Highway Patrol and State National Guard, more help is available. Putney reiterated more people and additional resources will be coming in to counteract any violent protests Thursday night, but there was no need to impose a curfew at this time.

After rioting raged for the second night in Charlotte over the police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, the city's police chief told reporters Thursday he has no intention of releasing dashcam video of the shooting "to the masses."

Kerr Putney, chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said at a press conference Wednesday morning that Keith Lamont Scott, 43, had a gun in his hand when he was shot by police officers and that he was warned multiple times to drop the weapon.
