Jersey City Officer To Be Taken Off Life Support, Organs Harvested
The most seriously wounded of the five Jersey City police officers injured in last week's shootout will not survive and his organs will be donated, officials said yesterday as colleagues, family members, and friends said final goodbyes to 37-year-old Marc DiNardo.

Staked out in an unmarked cruiser on Reed Street in Jersey City, police Lt. Michael Kelly and Detective Marc Lavelle waited patiently for two people last seen in a red Ford Focus, the suspected getaway car in a near-fatal shooting last month.

Jersey City Police Hold Hospital Vigil for Critically Wounded Officers
Police this morning continued to hold vigil at a hospital for two officers critically wounded in a gun battle Thursday. Officer Marc Dinardo was shot in the left side of the face and Officer Michael Camacho was shot in the neck. Thursday's shootout left six other officers injured and two armed robbery suspects dead.

Off-Duty NYPD Officer Killed by Fellow Officer in "Friendly Fire" Incident
An off-duty rookie cop chasing a suspected car thief in East Harlem with his gun drawn was shot and killed Thursday night when an officer mistook him for a criminal. "Police! Stop! Drop it!" cops from the 25th Precinct shouted at Omar Edwards, 25. As he started to turn toward him - the gun still in his hand - an officer opened fire, sources said.

Florida Officer Recovering from Shooting
The Coral Springs officer shot several times by an assault rifle-wielding robber during a police chase Saturday night should make a full recovery and be home by the weekend, his family said during a press conference. Officer Paul Kempinsky IV continued Wednesday to recover at North Broward Medical Center, undergoing yet another surgery, this time to repair a bullet wound in his arm, said his father, Paul Kempinsky III.

Texas Officer Hit by SUV Dies; Man Held
Bridgeport police Sgt. Randy White, 32, was in his patrol car behind a parked pickup along State Highway 114 near FM2123 in Bridgeport about 3:16 p.m. when the SUV driven by Steven York slammed into the rear of the patrol car, said Amber Fogelman, a spokeswoman for the city of Bridgeport, which is about 45 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Off-Duty Chicago Cop Dies in Motorcycle Crash
An off-duty Chicago police officer was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle crash in south suburban Matteson. "It appears she lost control of the bike and hit a street sign," Matteson Police Deputy Chief George Pfotenhauer said this morning.

Two Aryan Brotherhood Members Convicted in Plot to Kill N.M. Deputy
The jury convicted Robert Guyton,Krusty Cook and Samuel Zachary Arrington on two counts each. Both were out of prison and, the prosecution charged, involved in arranging meetings to set up a revenge hit on former Otero County Sheriff's Deputy Billy Anders because he had killed an Aryan Brotherhood leader in New Mexico.

Head Trauma During Charity Boxing Match Killed Phoenix Officer
A Phoenix police officer who collapsed after boxing a firefighter in a charity match Sept. 12 died of blunt-force trauma to the head, an autopsy showed.

Slain Washington Officer's Love of Animals Evolved into a Deputy's Job
It was on patrol at 2:50 p.m. that Dep. Anne Jackson responded to a trespassing call. Investigators don't yet know what happened next but they believe 28-year-old Isaac Zamora of Alger, a man Jackson had been called about before, shot and killed her, another man and four more people before his arrest hours later.
