A Sherman County (Ore.) Sheriff's deputy had help from a suspect's pit bull during a vehicle stop, when the dog wrestled away a marijuana-filled sock and tossed it toward the officer.

Cartel Operators Killed ICE Agent At Trafficking Checkpoint
Zapata and partner Victor Avila were traveling between Mexico City and Monterrey when they were stopped by cartel operators near San Luis Potosi. The agents were in a blue Suburban with diplomatic plates and identified themselves as diplomats.

States Rush to Ban Fake Bath Salts
Several states, including Louisiana, North Dakota and Florida, have issued emergency bans on fake bath salts that contain a synthetic drug. The bath salts, which users can purchase online, cause paranoia, hallucinations and on some occasions, violent behavior.

Addicted Thieves Increasingly Target Pharmacies
In Maine, one pharmacy began using a tracking device on prescription bottles so police could quickly locate the thieves. Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, provided training to officers with the Biddeford (Maine) PD on how to investigate pharmacy thefts.

Ex-Philly Cops Plead Guilty To Heroin Conspiracy
Two former Philadelphia Police officers have pleaded guilty to a heroin conspiracy involving their plan to rob a dealer, and then distribute the drug to another person they believed to be a dealer and money launderer but who was an undercover officer.

With grants from the Texas Department of Transportation, the educational institution operates two training programs to enhance officers' abilities to identify and evaluate impaired drivers. Prosecutor Says NY Cop Is 'Drug Dealer In a Police Uniform'
The Niagara Falls (N.Y.) officer had pleaded guilty to narcotics, weapons, and civil rights charges. A federal grand jury originally indicted the officer on 10 counts of sexually assaulting women in his custody, possessing a firearm while committing a drug trafficking crime, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
