Los Angeles County Releases 1,700 Inmates to Slow Coronavirus in Jails
For almost two weeks, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said he was looking for as many inmates as possible to safely release. On Tuesday, he said the number so far was 1,700 inmates, or about 10% of the county’s entire jail population.

Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, first responders were allowed to line up to get tested for the novel coronavirus. By 12:45 p.m., the site already had reached its daily limit of 250 tests, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

70 NYPD Officers Have Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said 70 uniformed members of the NYPD and 28 civilians employees have tested positive for COVID-19. One person was released from the hospital Sunday while three remained hospitalized, according to Shea.
