A 28-year-old suspect was killed Friday evening in an exchange of gunfire with police that left two officers with non-life-threatening wounded, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
The officers were serving a warrant. There was an exchange of gunfire, Police Chief Johnny Jennings told reporters at the scene, Spectrum News said.
The wounded officers were released from hospital Friday night, Gov. Josh Stein said.
The suspect, identified by law enforcement as Reggie Allen Knight, was wanted on at least ten warrants, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
WCNC reports the 10 warrants were:
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of Firearm by Felon
• Carrying a Concealed Gun
• Resisting Public Officer
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Communicating Threats
• Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
• Two counts of Assault on a Female
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• Assault by Strangulation.
