VIDEO: Indianapolis Officers Shoot, Kill Teen Carjacking Suspect
Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers shot and killed a teen carjacking suspect on the northeast side of the city late Sunday night.
Police say the officers were following a car from a carjacking earlier in the night. The suspects also allegedly shot at citizens as the fled the scene of the original incident.
The vehicle turned into a cul-de-sac to turn around, and the officers turned on their lights to initiate a traffic stop. An IMPD spokesperson told Fox 59 TV the vehicle then rammed into the driver’s side of a police car.
Police say multiple passengers got out of the suspect vehicle and ran between the fence line of a nearby apartment complex. The driver of the vehicle refused to comply with the officers’ requests to get out of the vehicle. Police say he again tried to hit officers with the vehicle, and narrowly missed.
Officers fired at the car, striking the driver, who got out of the vehicle with a handgun and then immediately collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members and police identified the deceased as 15-year-old Andre Green.
