North Dakota Highway Patrol superintendent Colonel Brandon Solberg plans to retire from law enforcement.
On Dec. 1 Solberg will be taking a position in state government as director of Facility Management Division in the Office of Management and Budget, KXNET reports.
Solberg spent nearly six-and-a-half years as superintendent of the Highway Patrol. As such, he says he was able to help the force achieve major initiatives — like the implementation of the 2018 Vision Zero traffic safety initiative. From this initiative, crash fatalities decreased to the lowest in 20 years.
Solberg also helped with creating a dedicated interdiction team, signed agreements with tribal nations to improve emergency response times, started an unmanned aerial vehicle program, launched a crash assistance program, and signed a 30×30 pledge to help increase female representation in law enforcement.
