Prosecutors have determined that two officers with the San Jose (CA) Police Department were justified in fatally shooting an ax-wielding man in January 2018, according to the Mercury News. The man—identified as 27-year-old Thompson Nguyen—had been seen waving the weapon at a power facility in a rural area near downtown. More Here.

Two Australian police officers—Sergeants Christopher Russo and Kirby Tonkin—dove into the sea to save an unconscious kangaroo in danger of drowning. The animal in obvious peril, the officers raced into the water to grab him. More Here.

Georgia Police 'Bump' Armed Robbery Subject with Squad Car During Pursuit
Officers with the Chamblee (GA) Police Department responded on Monday to an armed robbery at a pharmacy just seconds after the crime had been committed. An officer gave chase on foot while another drove up and—knowing the clear threat presented by the armed suspect—bumped into the offender with his squad car.

New Texas Law Requires Students to View Video on Safely Interacting with Police
The "Community Safety Education Act" requires all high school students in Texas to watch an educational video—entitled "Flashing Lights"—to teach them how to safely interact with a police officer during traffic stops. The goal of Senate Bill 30—passed by the 85th Texas Legislature—is to define the behavior and expectations of citizens and law enforcement during traffic stop interactions.

Oregon Man Tries to Grab Officer's Gun in Courtroom Confrontation
An Oregon man—identified as 27-year-old Patrick Lemmon—abruptly got up from his seat and attempted to grab the gun of an officer sitting just feet to his left. The incident was captured on video made public on YouTube by The Oregonian. Lemmon was seated in a Lincoln County (OR) courtroom without any sort of restraints, because a judge had denied deputies' request. California Highway Patrol Release FLIR Video of 2016 Pursuit Ending at Naval Air Station Lemoore
A 2016 police pursuit that ended at Naval Air Station Lemoore was captured on FLIR video that was recently released and posted on YouTube. In the video, the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee being pursued by the California Highway Patrol crashed into the tail end of an F/A-18 airplane at the military installation. The collision resulted in the vehicle striking part of the aircraft's horizontal stabilizer, instantly killing the passenger of the vehicle, and mortally wounding the driver. The...

A Pennsylvania State police helicopter was called in to hover low over a tailgate party prior to the Penn State football game against Ohio State on Saturday. According to WGAL-TV, the helicopter was called when party-goers started "getting out of hand" and tailgaters had ignored commands from police on the ground to disperse.
