Patrol officers in the field can now view all the content on PoliceMag.com on a Website optimized for smartphones starting today.

Users of iPhones, Android phones, or Windows phones will automatically be directed to the optimized site when they enter "policemag.com" in their device's browser. The optimized site doesn't load on tablets such as the iPad.

"Internet access is moving more and more toward mobile devices, and POLICE Magazine is embracing this trend with our new optimized mobile Website," said Leslie Pfeiffer, POLICE publisher.

Currently about 20% of Web traffic to PoliceMag.com arrives from mobile devices.

The mobile site presents PoliceMag.com content in a clean, easy-to-use format. The site offers the latest in news, articles, blogs, photo galleries, and products. Users can access topical areas such as Gangs, Weapons, Vehicles, or Technology via a top navigation bar.

A scrollbar shows the latest articles with photos. Below the scrollbar, users will find a top news item followed by other news, blogs, and products. The site also offers photo and product sections with thumbnail images and scrollbars.

"It contains all of the latest content in a format that is easy to read with no zooming required," said David Griffith, POLICE editor. "I'm a smartphone user myself, and I think our Web design and development team did a great job producing a mobile site that captures all of the qualities of PoliceMag.com in a condensed design."

Add a POLICE icon to your smartphone's home screen for a quick bookmark to the site. To do that from an iPhone, tap the square button with the arrow coming out of it at the base of the screen. Then click "add bookmark." You're done. Now check back for the latest from PoliceMag.com.
