Motorola Secures $56 Million To Build Broadband Network In Mississippi

The network will be the third for Motorola Solutions, which is also building out LTE broadband networks in northern California's Bay Area and Harris County, Texas.

Motorola Solutions received a $56 million contract to implement a 700 MHz LTE (Long Term Evolution) public-safety broadband network for the Mississippi Wireless Communication Commission.

The network will be the third for Motorola Solutions, which is also building out LTE broadband networks in northern California's Bay Area and Harris County, Texas.

Mississippi was one of seven public-safety jurisdictions to win federal grant money to build broadband networks, and so far Motorola Solutions has been chosen to build out three of the four contracts awarded. Raytheon received a contract from Adams County, Colo.

The company announced the contract as part of its second-quarter earnings report on Thursday.
