The New York Police Department has received a $4.6 million donation from JPMorgan Chase for security upgrades, including new patrol car laptops and security monitoring software for the department's main data center.
The donation was given to the New York City Police Foundation, JPMorgan Chase announced on its Web site.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly sent a note to Jamie Dimon, the firm's chairman and chief executive, expressing "profound gratitude" for the donation.
"These officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe," Dimon said in a release. "We're incredibly proud to help them build this program and let them know how much we value their hard work."
